Scientists are the new rock stars. The infection has been contained for nearly three months, and the world is celebrating. But humans are still dying. Rebekah Taylor has seen it firsthand. Her husband was killed right in front of her by the very creatures that humans were told they no longer had to fear.

Rebekah is determined to find out who is responsible for the death of her husband and the obvious cover-up. Fueled with revenge, she begins to find answers that lead to one frightening conclusion. The apocalypse might be over, but the battles are just beginning.

My Review

The zombie apocalypse has come and gone. Scientists developed a vaccine to protect the living and the government developed agencies to get rid of the living dead. Rebekah Taylor and her husband Gavin are finally able to rebuild their lives – until a horde of oddly focused zombies rip Gavin to pieces in front of Rebekah, while leaving her untouched. Rebekah’s determination to find out what happened on that horrific day and her need for vengeance lead her down a rabbit hole of cover-ups, corruptions and, ultimately, a ghastly and shocking discovery.

When you read books about zombies, it’s usually set during the zombie apocalypse, so having RecruitZ set in the aftermath was a refreshing set of pace that I thoroughly enjoyed. How does society build again? What’s it like with so many people dead or grieving or traumatized beyond belief? This book explores some of these kinds of questions and also, now that it’s known that zombies are a real thing, how will this knowledge be exploited by the less scrupulous members of society? (The answer is not pretty)

The opening chapter of this book is positively gripping and hooked me right away into the action. And the action just keeps coming. This book is fast-paced and never lets up. I did find it so fast-paced in some parts that I had a little trouble catching up to what was going on since new information just comes at you lightning fast, but it was all part of the ride.

If you’re a fan of zombie thrillers and conspiracy hunts, you’ll love this book. It keeps you guessing and entertained the whole way through. Warning for some pretty heavy blood and gore – but, hey, it’s a zombie novel, so that’s pretty much a given.

RecruitZ is story of a greed and science related horrors in a post zombie apocalypse world. To keep you on your toes (and to help you follow the many twists and turns in this conspiracy heavy zombie thriller), I recommend Coffee Shop of Horrors Reanimator Morning Blend – it’s a blend of light and dark that’ll help you focus and start you day – of running from zombies and chasing down your conspiracy-related hunches.

Yeah most zombie books I read were also during so it’s nice to see some take on a different approach. The Feed series by Myra Grant is also set after and it’s one of my fav series so I def have to give this one a try! Great review!
