All’s fair in love and…whatever this is.
This Valentine’s Day, when a cupid accidentally shoots himself with his own arrow, he falls for a siren whose only job is to lure men to their deaths.
Charismatic and irresistibly fun, Chance Eroson is a cupid who gets a kick from pairing odd couples and being right about them. Used to getting his way, the only person who shuts him down is the siren who has ruined more than one of his pairings before they started. But his bigger problem is he wants her. He’s always wanted her.
Elodie Sirenian uses her power for good, only hunting evil men. But after so long, and so many horrible people, her cynicism has settled deep inside. She can turn on the charm when she doesn’t mean it, and they fall for it. Every single one. Every single time.
Except Chance. He’s the only person—man or god—who has ever challenged her.
But a cupid’s magic is temporary. There’s no way a true love match is possible. Not this time.
My Review
In Hit By A Cupid Stick, a deadly siren fights a losing battle against her attraction to a big-hearted cupid.
It starts when Elodie, a gossamer-haired siren with a heart of gold, is out hunting for her next meal. One wrong move puts her in the path of a cupid’s arrow. But not just any cupid, no, it’s Chance, the sexy-sweet cupid she’s crossed path with before and can’t seem to shake from her mind.
Chance is enamored, not only of Elodie’s incredible beauty on the outside, but her determination to be different from her siren sisters, to be good and only kill evil men. Elodie is charmed by the way Chance truly believes in and champions love, but too scared of how he’ll react if he sees the monster under her glamour to ever pursue anything.
With the excuse of the arrow’s power pulsing through their veins, Elodie gives into the attraction she’s been keeping in check. Chance, thrilled to have confirmation the attraction he’s been feeling is mutual (the arrow wouldn’t have worked otherwise), uses the time he has with Elodie in his arms wisely. And when a dangerous specter from one of Elodie’s past hunts shows up, Chance refuses to leave the side of the woman fate has finally given him a opportunity with.
I thought this book was going to be pure sizzle with very little plot, and I was fine with that, but I found myself pleasantly surprised when some action and adventure were thrown in. But make no mistake, there’s still plenty of sizzle. With a siren and a cupid how could there not be? The pair can’t keep their hands off each other – while making a cup of tea or laying in wait for a would-be murderer to show up, these two can’t seem to help themselves.
Hit By The Cupid Stick is the 5th book in the Brimstone Inc universe, but reads completely fine as a standalone. It’s a quick read, the perfect length for an evening or afternoon. I absolutely wouldn’t hesitate to pick up more books by this author and/or more books in the Brimstone Inc series.
I can think of no better coffee for a spicy romance starring a siren and a cupid than Pronto Coffee Cupid’s Kiss – flavored with chocolate, hazelnut, and cinnamon, it’s smooth and sweet and a little spicy, perfect for this Valentine read.
