Hazelnut Coffee Lip Scrub
In my search for the perfect coffee cup proof lipstick, I’ve really been getting into liquid and matte lipsticks – but they can leave my lips a bit dry. In an effort to keep my lips soft and moisturized, I’ve added lip scrubs to my beauty routine. Homemade lip scrubs are super cheap and easy to make with very little effort at all. My recent favorite is this Hazelnut Coffee Lip Scrub.
Why Hazelnut Oil
Hazelnut oil is rich in Vitamin E, which is super moisturizing, and essential fatty acids, which aid in softening. Hazelnut oil is also a “dry” oil, so it works its magic without leaving a greasy film behind. The coffee in the oil boosts blood circulation and adds a nice, toasty hazelnut coffee scent and flavor to the lip scrub.
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoons natural raw cane sugar
- 1 teaspoons coffee-infused hazelnut oil (see How To Make Coffee Infused Oil)
Directions:
- Place the raw cane sugar in a small bowl and add oil. Mix.
- Take a pinch of the lip scrub and rub on lips in small circular motions, starting at the center and moving out. (One of the best things about this lip scrub is all the ingredients are food grade, so you don’t have to worry about getting it in your mouth).
- Wipe off excess with a damp cloth or tissue – you could also simply lick off the excess, but I wouldn’t since there would be dead skin in it after exfoliating.
- Store any extra lip scrub in a small container. I used an old eye cream jar (after thoroughly washing it) and added some washi tape I got for $1 at Target around the jar to pretty it up.
I use this lip scrub about 2-3 times a week and find it works best when used right after (or during) a shower. This tasty homemade Hazelnut Coffee Lip Scrub should stay good for at least a month and leave you with lips that are beautifully soft and supple 💋.
