Happy Midweek! A few interesting coffee things happening: Starbucks added new Toasted Coconut Cold Brew and a limited edition blonde roast espresso to their menu, Starbucks Japan will soon offer the American Cherry Pie Frappuccino (complete with pie crust!), and Lip Smackers is releasing new Lip Cafe Frappes lip balms. RoyaltyGrade launched a Kickstarter campaign for Protein Coffee K-Cups and another campaign was launched for a reverse French Press that pulls the coffee grounds out instead of pushing them down.

Starbucks is adding a few new things to their menu. Starting April 4th, Toasted Coconut Cold Brew is available for a limited time at participating Starbucks in the U.S. and Canada. Inspired by jalao, a Dominican Republic treat made with coconut shavings and honey, the new cold brew beverage is composed of Starbucks signature Nariño 70 Cold Brew, lightly sweet toasted coconut syrup, and a “delicate float of coconut milk which cascades throughout the cup” (👌). Released in Canada in February as Starbucks Blonde® Espresso, Starbucks new lighter-roast brewed coffee has come to the US as the limited edition 2017 Starbucks Blonde Roast Ltd. The new, lighter roast is supposed to create a “lighter profile for espresso beverages” and be the “perfect juicy, lush and verdant brewed option for spring”. Beginning April 13, the new American Cherry Pie Frappuccino (pictured right) will be available at participating Starbucks stores in Japan. Inspired by the flavors of cherry pie à la mode, the frappuccino is made with a blended vanilla-flavored crème base, pie crumbles, cherry compote, and a dome-shaped pie crust instead of a lid – the idea being that as the crust is pierced with a straw, the pieces will crumble off into the beverage, giving it a nice, crunchy texture.

Coming in May, Lip Smacker is releasing new Lip Cafe Frappes lip balms, available on their website and at Fred Meyers stores. The new lip balms will be available in 5 delicious sounding flavors: Vanilla Chai, Cinnamon Churro, Caramel, Mocha Chip, and Pumpkin Spice, but the best part is the packaging – shaped like a coffee cup with a whipped-cream swirl cap. RoyaltyGrade launched a Kickstarter for their biodegradable, single serve Protein Coffee K-Cups, containing 10 grams of protein per serving. The company is also promising a percentage of all company sales towards planting trees around the world. See the campaign video below for more information.

Perfect Cup French Pull, a reverse French Press brewer that allows users to remove the coffee grounds after reaching desired brew strength and keeps your coffee warm, also launched a Kickstarter. To learn more about the brewer, watch the campaign video below.
