Monday Morning Coffee News
Happy Monday! This year’s starting off a bit slow in coffee news, but here’s a few coffee-related things going on right now: Jack Daniel’s officially released Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whisky Coffee, the newest contender for the title of the world’s strongest coffee is coming soon to the U.S., and a Kickstarter campaign launched for single serve tea and coffee bags that come already sweetened.
This holiday season, Jack Daniels, in partnership with World Of Coffee, officially released Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whisky Coffee. Available in 8.8 oz collectible tins and 1.5 oz gift bags, the medium roast, 100% Arabica ground coffee is infused with Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey and comes in both regular and decaf. You can buy it in person at the Lynchburg Hardware and General Store in Lynchburg, Tennessee or through the Jack Daniel’s Online Store.
Watch out Death Wish Coffee, Black Insomnia Coffee is coming for your title. Black Insomnia Coffee, roasted in Cape Town, South Africa, is coming to the U.S. and claims to have 6.5% more caffeine per cup than it’s competitors. That’s 702 mg of caffeine per 12 oz cup of Black Insomnia compared to 660 mg in the same amount of Death Wish Coffee. I did some calculations using Caffeine Informers “Death By Caffeine” calculator and the average American (the average weight for Americans being between 160 and 190 lbs) should drink a maximum of about 7 to 8 oz of Black Insomnia Coffee per day (about one average cup of coffee) – wow.
Embrew makes these ingenious little brew bags of ethically sourced, direct-trade teas and coffees that come with all-natural sweeteners already in the bags for super easy, one-step brewing. They recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to try their products on a willing market and get the funds to invest in a tea bagging machine (they are currently making all the bags by hand!).
