JT Winchester doesn’t believe there’s magic in Plymouth Rock, Colorado. For him, it’s always represented a cage he couldn’t wait to escape. Yet he’s never forgotten the girl next door who’d captured his heart as a young man. His love for her had been so all consuming and terrifying, that when the chance came to escape both Plymouth Rock and her, he took it.

Madison Lane may be the girl next door, but she has big dreams. The Internet has given her small town business international exposure, and she lives her life the way she wants. Yet something is missing, and no amount of pretending it’s anything other than JT Winchester has ever worked. Now, JT is back in town for Thanksgiving and Madison is reunited with the man who once set her heart and body aflame. They’ve both changed, but one thing has stayed the same—they can’t resist one another.

When the two find themselves snowed in at the cabin JT’s grandfather built, the time for running comes to an end. JT is about to discover he has a lot to be thankful for, like being trapped with the girl who got away . . . like getting a second chance to make things right. And Madison is ready to be brave and get what she wants, the man she’s loved since she was young. For JT and Madison, the magic of Plymouth Rock is about to change their lives.

My Review

The Snowed In & Snuggled Up Holiday Collection follows three brothers returning home and reuniting with lost-loves over the Thanksgiving holiday.

JT Winchester and Madison were hot and heavy back in the day – waaay back in the day. It’s been eleven years since their romance abruptly ended with JT leaving their small town of Plymouth Rock and Madison nursing a broken heart. Now JT is back in town to take care of some family business over the Thanksgiving holiday and he and Madison gravitate back towards each other like magnets – they just can’t stay away from each other. But when it comes to hashing out the details of an actual relationship, these two still can’t seem to get it together – luckily a well-timed snow storm forces them to really talk about what happened all those years ago, what went wrong, and if they can fix those problems for a happily ever after now.

While we know early on that JT and Madison had a particularly nasty break-up, we aren’t really given the details until almost the very end. All we know in the beginning is that the incident had something to do with chocolate donuts – to this day neither of them can even smell chocolate donuts without getting sick. I will admit I was deeply curious about the “Chocolate Donut Incident” all the way through the book until it was finally explained – and it was not what I was expecting at all.

You don’t often see holiday romances set around Thanksgiving, so I was happy for a little change from the usual. However, I kind of felt like Thanksgiving was only very briefly mentioned at all in this book, so while this is a romance set around a holiday, it is not what I would normally think of as a “holiday romance”. While JT and Madison’s relationship drama is the main focus of A Little Bit Of Sugar, it’s pretty clear that the distance between the Winchester brothers, the hole left in the family by the death of their beloved patriarch, and the return of their estranged father will be threads running through the entire collection, tying the books together.

Overall, this was a great, quick romance, set in cute small town, with some great characters (there’s an especially enjoyable cast of secondary characters in this that I particularly enjoyed). I eagerly look forward to returning to the magical little town of Plymouth Rock in the next two books of the the Snowed In & Snuggled Up Holiday Collection to see what happens with the remaining Winchesters and their ladyloves and to watch the Winchester family further heal the cracks in their relationships.

The “Chocolate Donut Incident” was a pivotal moment in JT and Madisons’s relationship and in fact chocolate donuts are mentioned 13 times throughout A Little Bit Of Sugar – all that talk about chocolate donuts definitely left me with a cravingDunkin Donuts Chocolate Glazed Donut Coffee is the perfect coffee for this book – it has a subtle sugary chocolate flavor reminiscent of chocolate donuts and smell like them too! Yum!
